Lyrics and Laughs is a fun, in-depth analysis of country music lyrics. During each podcast, the hosts breakdown and discuss the lyrics of country music’s biggest hits in a tongue-in-cheek way. Their ultimate goal? To convince country music skeptics of the beauty of country music storytelling.
FEATURING:
- Greg Milby
- Joe Bennett
- Eric Clemens
- Kenny Rambo
Four hosts – Greg Milby, Joe Bennett, Eric Clemens and Kenny Rambo – come together to discuss the unique, vivid and complex lyrics of country music’s biggest hits. The group comes to the podcast well researched and ready to discuss the intrinsic and nuanced lyrics of classics like “Watermelon Crawl,” “Man, I Feel like a Woman,” “Queen of My Doublewide Trailer,” and more. While three of the hosts are proud country music fans, Kenny remains the lone hold-out that has yet to be impressed by country music or lyrics. But the others are convinced that they will convince him otherwise.
Greg Milby
The Old Man
We could not do the podcast without Greg… because he has all the recording equipment. A 20-year veteran of morning radio, he does his best to keep the guys focused, but that’s a near impossible task. Greg loves country music so much that he asked his wife to marry him at a Tracy Byrd concert. When he’s not producing our podcast, Greg is the community storyteller at Kentucky’s Heartland.
Eric Clemens
Captain Poetry
Eric has two main roles on the podcast – to read the lyrics of the song and to drive Greg crazy. How’s he doing with those jobs? He botches the readings most of the time, but usually Greg is ready for Eric to get out of his house by the end of the night. Eric does not work for Heartland Communications Consultants, but does share office space with the other guys. He also is a writer/performer for The Eric and Joe Show (some guy named Joe helps him out).
Joe Bennett
Doctor Chuckles
Along with Greg, Joe is the other guy that actually does research behind the songs and artists, but that doesn’t stop him from getting off topic with ridiculous stories and bad impressions of country artists. When he’s not trying to convince Kenny to become a country music fan, Joe is a content creator for Heartland Communications Consultants and is a writer/performer for The Eric and Joe Show (some guy named Eric helps him out).
Kenny Rambo
Not a Fan
He is the reason for the podcast! Kenny is far from a country music fan, but each week Greg, Eric, and Joe break down the lyrics of a country song in an effort to convince Kenny to become a country music fan. How’s it going so far? Well, they’re still making new episodes. On top of not being a fan of country music, Kenny is the president of Heartland Communications Consultants, a full-service marketing and PR firm.
