Leadership Hardin County Launches Donation Drive to Support Foster Children

March 3, 2025 By Greg Milby

The 2024-2025 Leadership Hardin County (LHC) class, a program of the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, is stepping up to make a difference in the lives of children in the foster care system. Partnering with the Department for Community Based Services, LHC is organizing a community-wide donation drive to collect essential hygiene and comfort items for children entering foster care.

From March 3 through April 4, donation collection sites will be set up throughout Hardin County, providing community members, businesses, and organizations with an opportunity to contribute and support local foster families.

How You Can Help

  • Hygiene Items – Soap, combs, wet wipes, baby formula, diapers
  • Clothing – Pajamas (sizes 3 months to 17 years), underwear (sizes 2 to 17 years)
  • Baby Essentials – Bottles, sippy cups, pacifiers

Why This Matters

Each year, Leadership Hardin County selects a project aimed at addressing an important need within the community. This year’s initiative focuses on providing immediate relief to children entering foster care, many of whom arrive at new homes with little to no belongings.

Foster families often receive late-night calls, taking in children with little time to prepare. By donating, community members can help ensure these children have comfort, dignity, and basic necessities as they transition into their new environment.

This project is an opportunity for Hardin County to come together and show its support for foster children and the families that care for them. Every donation—big or small—makes a lasting impact.

For more information on how you can contribute, contact the Hardin County Chamber of Commerce or visit one of the collection sites before April 4.
