“Monster Dash 5K: Running Towards a Brighter Future, Stomping Out Domestic Violence”

October 19, 2023 By Greg Milby

Elizabethtown, Kentucky – October 19, 2023

The second annual Monster Dash 5K is just around the corner, and it’s not just another fun run. It’s a purposeful and spirited event designed to raise awareness about domestic violence in our community. Hosted at Severns Valley Baptist Church by the Baptist Heath Hardin Sane Program, this Halloween-themed run is set for this Saturday, October 21, 2023.

The Cause:

Domestic violence affects lives in ways we can’t even begin to fathom. With 1 in 4 women and 1 in 10 men affected by domestic/intimate partner violence each year, it’s an issue that cannot be ignored. The Monster Dash 5K aims to take a significant step towards addressing this problem head-on. The event is a call to action, an opportunity for everyone to stand together against domestic violence, and a chance to make a real impact in our community.

Event Highlights:

  • Packet Pickup: The race day begins with packet pickup at 7:30 AM EDT in the Severns Valley Baptist Church parking lot.
  • Registration: The registration fee is $25 per person. The event is also offering free registration for participants 12 and under.
  • Team Building: Want to add an extra layer of fun to your run? Create a Fun Social Team with at least five members and receive a $5 discount on your registrations. Social Teams also have a shot at special team awards.
  • Awards: Prizes await the top three overall Male & Female runners, as well as special recognition for the Best Dressed Team and Fastest Team.

Race Details:

The Monster Dash 5K will kick off from the back of Severns Valley Baptist Church’s parking lot and circle the property before exiting onto Robinbrooke Blvd. Participants will venture approximately 1/2 mile down Robinbrooke before reversing course back to the finish line. The course will be well-marked with directional arrows to ensure a seamless experience.

Hydration and Support:

Water/hydration stations will be located near the 1-mile and 2-mile points on the course. Plus, water and snacks will be available at the start/finish line, ensuring runners have the fuel they need to complete the race.

This Halloween-themed run is more than just a fun-filled morning. It’s an opportunity to run for a cause, supporting a brighter and safer future for everyone in our community. By participating in the Monster Dash 5K, you can be part of a movement to combat domestic violence and raise awareness about this pressing issue. Don’t miss this chance to make a difference; let’s run together towards a safer, healthier, and happier community.
