April is recognized as National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and organizations like CASA of the Heartland are stepping up to spread awareness and advocate for the safety and well-being of children in our communities. As part of their efforts, CASA is hosting their annual Pinwheel Planting Events, symbolizing hope, health, and happiness for children affected by abuse and neglect.
In partnership with the Elizabethtown Police Department (EPD), CASA will kick off its event on Thursday, March 28th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the EPD headquarters, 300 S Mulberry St, Elizabethtown. The event will feature a community gathering, where attendees, including community leaders, CASA staff and board members, Friends of CASA, and the general public, will come together to plant pinwheels and show their support.
Adding to the festivities, EPD will sponsor lunch from Juanito’s Street Tacos between 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., providing a delightful treat for participants as they engage in meaningful conversations about child abuse prevention.
But the advocacy doesn’t stop there. CASA will also host a Pinwheel Planting Event in LaRue County at Lincoln Square in Hodgenville on Friday, March 29th, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event will extend the reach of their message and bring communities together in the fight against child abuse.
The significance of the pinwheel goes beyond its vibrant colors. It serves as a reminder of the uplifting and joyous childhood that every child deserves. The blue and white pinwheels represent hope, health, and happiness for the children served by CASA in the Hardin County community.
As we acknowledge the importance of raising awareness about child abuse and neglect, CASA urges residents to learn to recognize the signs and take action to protect children. Currently, 46 local children are on a waitlist for a CASA volunteer in Hardin County, highlighting the critical need for community involvement.
By participating in these Pinwheel Planting Events, individuals can advocate for the safety and well-being of children in our communities. Together, we can create a brighter future for all children, free from abuse and full of promise.
